What is FLOKI?

FLOKI owes its name to a tweet. On 25 June 2021, by the project's own timeline, Elon Musk announced that his Shiba Inu puppy would be called Floki, and a token with that name appeared the same day. Floki (opens in a new tab) is still counted among the meme coins, yet the project now calls FLOKI the utility token of what it describes as a wider ecosystem of its own products.

The descriptions of those products come from the project itself. Its list includes Valhalla, presented as an NFT game, a set of decentralised finance tools under the FlokiFi name, a trading bot that runs inside Telegram, an education platform called University of Floki, and TokenFi, a service for creating tokens without writing code. Staking FLOKI pays out in TOKEN, which the project calls a sister token.

Two features set FLOKI apart from most meme coins. First, it exists twice: it started on Ethereum, and a version on BNB Smart Chain followed on 20 July 2021. Large exchanges swap the two one for one, which the white paper says keeps their supply and price linked. Second, the contract levies a 0.3% tax on buys and sells made through decentralised exchanges. That money goes to the project's treasury to fund development and marketing, while plain transfers and moves between the two networks are exempt. The white paper says the team hopes to drop the tax once its products earn enough.

The Ethereum contract in use today dates from January 2022, even though the token itself is older. Floki.com lists one address per network, and those are the two to compare against before adding FLOKI to a wallet.

However ambitious the plans, FLOKI's price can swing hard on sentiment, and a large part of the money put into it can be gone within days.

Do you pay the 0.3% FLOKI tax when buying on a platform?

The project describes the tax as a charge on on-chain buys and sells, which in practice means trades through a decentralised exchange such as Uniswap or PancakeSwap. A purchase on a centralised platform is settled in that platform's own records rather than on the blockchain, so it falls outside that description. You pay the platform's trading costs instead, and those are what our comparer adds up.

Ethereum or BNB Smart Chain, which network do you pick for a withdrawal?

Whichever one your wallet is set up for. FLOKI is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum at 0xcf0c122c6b73ff809c693db761e7baebe62b6a2e and a BEP-20 token on BNB Smart Chain at 0xfb5b838b6cfeedc2873ab27866079ac55363d37e. Wallet addresses on both networks look identical, starting with 0x, so the address alone does not tell you which network a withdrawal will use. Moving the tokens on afterwards costs a network fee, paid in ETH on Ethereum and in BNB on BNB Smart Chain.

How many FLOKI tokens exist?

It depends on how you count. The homepage gives a total supply of 10 trillion, but 10 trillion tokens were minted on each of the two networks, and the project's own FAQ adds them up to 20 trillion. On 16 October 2026 the burn address held about 4.46 trillion FLOKI on Ethereum and about 5.90 trillion on BNB Smart Chain, according to Etherscan and BscScan.

Who runs the Floki project?

A core team that stepped forward from the community in July 2021, according to the project's timeline. The treasury that receives the tax sits in a multisig wallet needing at least three signatures per transaction, and the website names Block Forge S.R.L. in San José, Costa Rica, as its contact for legal enquiries.

Is there a MiCA white paper for FLOKI?

Yes. ESMA's interim register lists several FLOKI white papers, among them versions drawn up by LCX AG in Liechtenstein and by Crypto Risk Metrics GmbH in Germany. The LCX document states that no competent authority in any EU member state has approved it, and the party seeking admission to trading carries sole responsibility for its content.

What happens to tokens that are burned?

They go to the address 0x000000000000000000000000000000000000dEaD on either network, which nobody controls, so they can never move again. The FLOKI contract has no built-in burn on every trade. Instead, the project uses a quarter of FlokiFi's service fees and 1% of top-up fees on its prepaid card to buy tokens back and burn them, and burns part of the stake when holders leave staking early.
